so i’m sitting in class right now and feel sort of disillusioned by the “mechanics” behind the education sector. i think it’s cause i’m bored and haven’t been paying attention to a single thing that the professor has been saying for the past few weeks. but either way… i’m in this elementary reading assessment class and each class, we learn ways to assess a child’s reading & writing abilities. i am blase about it because i feel that there is no universal way to assess a child.. every student is so different and learn in different ways. some students are fast learners and others are slower… some households are more literate than others. others don’t have the parents/guardians that are needed to help them develop their reading skills. so how is one “san diego quick assessment” supposed anchor various proficiency levels when there are so many factors…. k i no longer know where i was going with this but i’m so bored in this class. blah.
